The DM1X Digital Motor (left pair) has the highest speed and power of any available lens motor. It is specifically intended to focus cinema lenses, allowing for quick focus racks on even very large zoom lenses. Its gears are coated with Diamond like Carbon (DLC) to provide unexcelled toughness and efficiency. It is compatible with the FI+Z MDR2 unit, the Digital Micro Force and the one-channel Video Lens Control.
The DM2 motor (right pair) is a smaller and lighter version of the original DM1. It is intended to perform the Focus, Iris or Zoom functions on all but the stiffest cinema lenses. (These jobs should be relegated to the DM1X.) The length of the DM2 housing is 100mm (3.9"), compared to 120mm (4.7") for the DM1X, while its weight has been reduced by 30% of the DM1X; from 415g to 290g.
The motors can be mounted to a variety of swing-arm brackets with conventional 15mm rods or directly mounted to matte box support rods with the new Integral Motor Mounts.
Both motors share the same rugged worm reduction gearing with DLC coatings. They also share motor housings which are machined from a solid bar of Magnesium alloy and are coated with a special ceramic before painting. This combination provides exceptional resistance to salt spray and moisture.
Both the DM1X and DM2 accept step-up gears for use with Panavision cinema lenses as well as Canon and Fujinon video lenses.
